Technical SEO

Technical SEO Audit Tool

Technical SEO is the plumbing that decides whether search engines can reach and trust your pages at all. SiteScore checks it directly from HTTP responses and files on your server, so these findings are measured rather than inferred.

HTTPS and redirects

We check the site is served over HTTPS and that the plain HTTP address redirects to it. Mixed setups split signals between two versions of the same site.

robots.txt

We fetch /robots.txt, confirm it exists, and flag a rule that blocks all crawlers from the whole site — one of the most damaging and most common accidental mistakes.

XML sitemap

We look for the sitemap declared in robots.txt or at /sitemap.xml, confirm it is a valid sitemap and count the URLs in it. We also use it to find pages to audit.

Status codes and broken links

We record the status code of every page we analyse and test a sample of internal links. Anything returning a 4xx or 5xx error is listed with the page it was found on.

Canonicalisation and indexability

We check canonical tags point to valid addresses on your domain, and read robots meta tags and X-Robots-Tag headers for noindex directives.

Crawlability and rendering

If a page's HTML contains almost no text because it is built with JavaScript, we report that as a technical limitation rather than blaming your content, since some crawlers and link previews only read the HTML.

Common questions

How is technical SEO different from on-page SEO?
Technical SEO is about whether pages can be crawled, rendered and indexed. On-page SEO is about what the page says once it is read. SiteScore scores them in separate categories so one problem is not counted twice.
How many pages do you check?
The homepage plus up to five more pages found through its links and your sitemap, and a sample of up to 20 internal links for errors. The report shows exactly how many pages were covered.
Does SiteScore guarantee higher Google rankings?
No, and no honest tool can. SiteScore shows what is measurably wrong on your pages and what to fix first. Rankings depend on many things an audit cannot see, such as competition and links from other sites.

Most technical problems are quick to fix once you know they exist. Run an audit to find yours.
